The word 'dissolution' can be interpreted in different ways. In so-called tonal music, it describes the moment of change from the dominant to the tonic. The built-up tension dissolves into the harmonic centre of the piece. A satisfying experience!
Panorama
A single night unfolds across five vistas of the piano's imagination. We begin in Haydn's clear daylight, where reason and grace hold gentle court, before Chopin's Nocturnes draw us into shadow and reverie — shadow that his Polonaise héroïque then ignites into defiant, blazing resolve. Debussy dissolves this fire into archaic dream and shimmering moonlight, and Schumann closes the arc with variation upon variation of struggle transfigured into triumph — a panorama not of place, but of the soul moving through darkness toward light.
